Work Based Learning

Case Study: Business Admin

Jody wasn’t actively looking for an apprenticeship but accompanied a friend to an interview at Pathways Training.  During the interview Jody became interested in a vacancy being advertised and after an interview with the employer she started a foundation modern apprenticeship.

During her time on the programme Jody overcame a number of difficulties including moving home and the relocation of the company she was based at from Swansea to Bridgend.  Jody received high levels of support from her work place supervisor and her assessor.  Jody continually demonstrated a high level of commitment, drive, enthusiasm and dedication to her training that she was rewarded when the company appointed her as a Marketing Assistant taking on greater responsibilities.

Jody successfully completed her foundation modern apprenticeship programme and progressed onto a modern apprenticeship programme.

Jody said that “she was ecstatic when she was offered the new marketing assistant job and since she has started at her company her confidence has grown and she feels more grown up”.

With extra income Jody is now learning to drive and feels she is getting somewhere.  Jody was recognised during the College’s annual prize giving ceremony when she was presented with the award for Modern Apprentice of the Year.
