Fond Farwell to Apprentice who’s joined the Navy
An apprentice mechanic from NPTC Group of Colleges is about to set sail for a new adventure after joining the Royal Navy as a Sub Mariner.
Craig Freeman, 19, from Machynlleth, qualified as a mechanic with Dyfi Autocraft. He attended the Newtown Campus one day a week where he worked with the College’s work-based learning team (Pathways Training) to achieve a Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair in just 12 months.
The training Craig undertook as part of his apprenticeship programme proved to the Navy’s recruitment team that he had the transferable skills, qualifications and commitment to be a successful applicant.
Craig’s ten-week basic training will start this month in Plymouth followed by six to twelve months of specialist training.
Robert Evans of Dyfi Autocraft, although sad to see Craig go, was in full support of his career advancement, and wished him all the best for the future.
Craig said: “I’m very much looking forward to the new challenges!’’
From everyone at the Pathways Training Team: ‘Good luck Craig’.
