Foundation Modern Apprenticeship
In Motor Vehicle

 

A Foundation Modern Apprenticeships (FMA) is a work based training opportunity for people to gain nationally recognised qualifications such NVQ’s, Key Skills and other technical qualifications whilst receiving a training allowance or a wage from an employer.

 

It can last between 1 and 2 years and provides an integrated programme of learning leading to the acquisition of knowledge, skills and competence.

 

The Learner will receive training from both the employer, Neath Port Talbot College and Pathways Training. Training will be through a mix of on-the-job training provided by the employer and off-the-job training at College, involving based qualifications such as a technical certificate. Pathways Training staff will visit regularly to monitor progress and carry out NVQ assessments.

 

Course Content

 

Motor Vehicle - learners will have the opportunity to specialise by following one of the following strands:

 

  • Vehicle Maintenance and Repair - Light Vehicle
  • Heavy Vehicle
  • Vehicle Body Refinishing
  • Vehicle Fitting
  • Vehicle Fitting and Repair

 

Key Skills - aimed at developing competence in the following Key Skill areas:

 

  • Communication
  • Application of Number
  • Information Technology

 

Technical Certificate - develops your occupational knowledge through the Certificate in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.

 

Employment Rights and Responsibilities - including those of the learner and the employer and the organisation, disciplines and representative structure of the industries that the learner may be employed in.
