Foundation Modern Apprenticeship
In Hospitality

 

A NVQ is a nationally recognised qualification awarded on the basis of competence in the workplace. It is a flexible assessment programme based on an individual’s circumstances and needs.

 

The aim of the NVQ Level 2 in Hospitality is to provide a work-related, competence-based qualification. It reflects the skills and knowledge needed to do the job effectively.
 
The programme is delivered in the workplace by an occupationally competent assessor and is run for a maximum of 78 weeks.

 

Apprentices are expected to be carrying out work based training with a workplace provider and can expect to receive a training allowance for the first 12 months of the apprenticeship if under the age of 19 years.

 

Entry Requirements

 

There are generally no laid down minimum entry requirements for Foundation Modern Apprenticeships. However, apprentices are expected to successfully satisfy the following criteria:-

 

  • In paid employment for at least 16 hours per week.
  • Living or working in Wales
  • Undertake Initial Assessment.
  • Successfully undertake skills assessment in literacy and numeracy.
  • Occupy a work role that is consistent with the level of qualification.

 

Course Content

 

The apprenticeship will include the NVQ framework which consists of:-

 

  • A competence based element i.e. NVQ
  • A knowledge based element
  • Level 1 Key Skill in Application of Number
  • Level 1 Key Skill in Communication
  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities module
